We sent a holiday email to our email subscribers today. Here’s the text of it just incase you’re not on the list:
“Kia Ora! * that’s hello in New Zelandic Maori, which is where I wish I was right now instead of cold Annapolis
As the year 2010 winds to a close, it’s hard to believe that January will mark the 2nd anniversary of the Racing Winds project. It’s been an incredible two years that have taken me all over the United States.
2010 was a great year, but it marked a lull in our coverage, primarily due to the breaks in between offshore ocean races. We took that as an opportunity to work on building our follower base, working on our website infrastructure, and working on expanding into other markets.
2011 promises to be an incredibly fast-paced year. The Velux 5 Oceans Race, already underway, will make a stop in Charleston in April. The Barcelona World Race, departing December 31, will arrive back in Barcelona in March. The Clipper Round the World Race shoves off from the UK in August. And, finally, the flagship offshore ocean racing event, the Volvo Ocean Race, departs from Alicante in October.
Also coming in 2011, we will launch a new website. This has been consistently requested and we believe it’s long overdue – we haven’t overhauled our entire website but once in the two years it’s been operational. This will improve our coverage abilities drastically, and will allow us to better broadcast results, upload photos and videos, and write our blog posts as well.
Anyways, as we wrap up 2010, here’s to a Merry Christmas (or if Hanukkah is what you celebrate, a happy belated Hanukkah), a Happy New Year, and many blessings in 2011! We’ve got some surprises up our sleeve for ya, so don’t sail too far.
