Continuing Gaither Scott’s Annapolis tradition, tonight kicks off Annapolis Yacht Club’s 52nd season of summer racing in Spa Creek and the Chesapeake Bay. There are a wide range of classes represented in this race series, including the Alberg 30, Catalina 27, Cal 25, International Etchells, Herreshoff 121⁄2, Harbor 20, J105, J35, J30, J80, J24, J22, Melges 24, Farr30, Farr 40 and PHRF 1, 2 & 3 classes.
The Wednesday Night Races are an Annapolis tradition, as much a part of the town as sailing itself. It’s a memorable sight on a warm summer night to see people lining the sidewalks on the Spa Creek Bridge, ice cream dripping, and the sunsets reflecting off shimmering pairs of Ray-Bans.
We plan to be on the water for at least one of the Wednesday Night’s. More information on WNR can be found here.
