Artemis Racing Launches Youth Program in Sweden

Stockholm, SWE–  Representatives of Artemis Racing, Challenger of Record for the 34th America’s Cup, were in Stockholm to join the Royal Swedish Yacht Club at the Scandinavian Boat Show earlier today.

More than 200 guests gathered at the KSSS meetingpoint to meet Paul Cayard(CEO) and sailor Magnus Augustsson of Artemis Racing.

Paul Cayard took this opportunity to announce the Artemis Racing Youth Programme, an initiative to bring talented Swedish sailors closer to top international sailing events.  The first element will be a joint effort with the KSSS to give six young Swedish sailors the opportunity to train with the Swedish Challenger of Record in August 2012 in San Francisco.

Paul Cayard also updated the audience about the team’s ongoing training and design programmes for the 34th America’s Cup, as well as the Swedish team’s plans to build the AC72 hulls in Orust, Sweden.

“Artemis Racing has selected Orust Yacht Services AB as the location to build the hulls of our AC72 because of the top quality boat building facilities there,” said Paul Cayard,CEO of Artemis Racing.

“Orust Yacht Services AB is pleased to support Artemis Racing in the team’s quest for the 34th America’s Cup.  Orust Yacht Service’s facilities are state of the art and ideal for the team’s needs.  Orust is a boat building island and the community is looking forward to welcoming the team in a few weeks time,” said Claes Samuelsson, CEO Orust Yacht Services AB.

The next event on the calendar for Artemis Racing is the America’s Cup World Series in San Diego whch begins this weekend.
