The practice race was not completed today, due to the rain and lack of wind.
The sailors after having their boats measured this morning, they reached
the race area around 12.00 and had the chance to test their equipment one
last time before the first race tomorrow.
The first group started with most of the fleet over the line not taking
practice race so seriously. The second group was about to start but the
wind dropped significantly and the rain picked up.
The race committee decided to send the young sailors back to port in order
to get ready for the opening ceremony that followed this evening.
The Maori’s welcomed the Opti sailors with traditional singing and dancing.
Unfortunately the weather will not be any better tomorrow and the rain
will continue. Nevertheless three races are scheduled and the race
committee will do their best to have them finished.
