[VIDEO] PUMA Heads East in Quest for Breeze

PUMA Ocean Racing is struggling to regain control after their unlucky starting position set them in last place from the beginning of leg 4, act 2. Now nearly 100 nm from the fifth-place boat, Telefonica, PUMA has moved north in hopes of making up some lost distance between them and the pack.

It’s been a turn of the tables as Team Sanya has emerged in first place, moving at a healthy boat speed of 13.1 kts. Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing is right on their tail, just over 1 nm back. The top two are followed closely by Groupama, just 6 nm back from Sanya.

It’s shaping up to be an interesting leg. Race leader Telefonica, who swept the first three legs, are in fifth despite their advantageous start from Sanya. And Sanya, the real underdogs, are making good choices and fighting to hold onto their lead.
