Japan Airlines Files First Flight Plan to Boston

Tomorrow, April 22, Japan Airlines start service from Tokyo to Boston with their new Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Not only is the event significant because of the aircraft, but the launch of NRT-BOS is the airline’s first new Pacific route in 13 years.

They have filed their first flight plan with the FAA, a milestone for the airline.

Japan Airlines says that the inaugural flight is fully booked, and that bookings for the month of May are averaging a 98% load factor. The airline will codeshare the flight with OneWorld partner American Airlines. JAL is looking to start 787 service to San Diego in December, and is evaluating further options for next year.
