The Boeing 787 was delivered to its first non-Japanese carrier today, as Boeing handed over the keys to Ethiopian Airlines. The aircraft, registered ET-AOQ, will be flown from the Boeing Delivery Center in Everett, WA, to Washington Dulles International Airport, where there will be a VIP ceremony. Later in the week, Ethiopian’s 787 will complete its inaugural flight to Africa with revenue service from Dulles to Addis Ababa.
We’ll be on the ground at Dulles tomorrow awaiting the new plane, and will update with photos and commentary ASAP.
