Alaska Airlines, famous for its Pacific Northwest route network and it’s Salmon-Thirty-Salmon aircraft, recently conducted another “Paint the Plane” contest, this one targeted towards the Hawaiian islands.
The winning design was that of Aaron Nee, an 11th grader at Kaiser High School in Honolulu. Aaron’s Spirit of the Islands design will grace a Boeing 737 come this spring. Alaska also awarded him a $5,000 scholarship and four round-trip tickets to anywhere in the Alaska route network.
While Aaron’s was the ultimate victor, there were plenty of fantastic designs submitted to the contest. Congratulations to Alaska and Aaron, this is one we can’t wait to see in the air.
