The First British Airways A380 Rolls Out of Paint

British Airways’ first Airbus A380 made an appearance today outside of the paint hangar in Hamburg, Germany. She looks stunning.

The aircraft, scheduled to be delivered in July, is scheduled to begin revenue service this coming October, with initial flights between London and Los Angeles, or the ‘Red Carpet Route’ as BA calls it. After delivery of their second A380, British Airways plans to place it on London – Hong Kong service in November.

Featuring 469 seats in total, their A380 features 14 first class seats on the main deck, a total of 97 Club World (business class) seats split between the two decks, 55 World Traveller Plus (premium economy) seats on the upper deck, and 303 World Traveller (economy) seats split between the two decks. Our favorite place to ride on the A380 is on the upper deck, so it’s thrilling that economy and premium economy passengers can choose the deck that suits them, as on many configurations, those passengers are confined to the lower deck.

British Airways currently has 12 examples on order, and has set up a great mini-site set up. Check out flight schedules after the video.
