[VIDEO] CAMPER Dominates In-Port Race in Home Waters

It was something of a dream day for Chris Nicholson and the boys of CAMPER, as Nicholson led his crew to a big first place finish in the Auckland In-Port Race.

Nicholson fearlessly lead the Spanish-sponsored entry to a comfortable victory. The team, who considers Auckland one of their home ports thanks to a sponsorship by Emirates Team New Zealand, remained in the lead the entire race and even beat rival PUMA Ocean Racing through the gate by nearly a minute. With the win, CAMPER edges closer to a second-place position, now just three points behind Groupama, and eighteen points behind race leader Telefonica.

“The one thing we said all week was how do we thank everyone who has supported us,” said Nicholson. “I hope this goes a long way to thanking them. It’s been a huge week of support and it’s helped.”

CAMPER will look forward to perhaps moving further into second place as leg 5 to Itajai, Brazil begins tomorrow.
